Residents of neighborhoods under closed management in Harbin, Northeast Heilongjiang Province, because of epidemic prevention measures have recently discovered a new simple and convenient way to walk their dogs -- lowering them to the ground through the window with a bed sheet.
A widely circulated video online shows a pet dog being slowly lowered to the ground from a high-rise window by a resident with its body tied to a bed sheet. After running around and defecating, the dog was taken upstairs with the bed sheet.
The dog owner, surnamed Liu, told media that one day after coming home from work she suddenly found that the neighborhood was under closed management because of the report of close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases. She could not leave her home, while her dog would not defecate at home. "So I thought of a way to lower the dog down through the window. There was no other rope at home, so I used a torn bed sheet."
Liu's "creative method" has sparked a heated discussion. Some people think her solution is very clever, while others think it may cause harm to the puppy.
